Hey guys, as you all know, I live in the south, and we hunt and fish alot around here. I got to thinking about all the things that Bryan has asked for this year for Christmas, and it dawned on me, why not just give him a gift card to Bass Pro Shop. I know he would be so pleased. A Bass Progift card is the perfect gift to give the outdoor person who has everything, or who wants everything.
I think its great to give the gift that gives all year. The Bass Pro gift card is available at any of your local grocer's gift card mall. You can take advantage of all of the great deals at GiftCardMall.com with the bass pro gift card. I know my Bryan will be in Heaven. He can find all kinds of stuff there, like hunting gear, fishing gear... Oh the possibilities for him are endless.
Not only can you give this gift to the people who like to use the gear at bass pro shops though, you can also Capture the memories: You can send out a photo of their "best" catch this year to loved ones. Your family and friends get rewarded too this way, also you can send the family and friends to bass pro shops with a personalized photo card to bass pro shopsavailable at GiftCardMall.com. Is this gift not just a life saver. We all know that their are so many men in our lives that are hard to buy for, and even more hard to buy for women... Bass pro shops have something for everyone, and with this gift card, you are able to give a gift that will in return give you a smile. Happy Holidays from my family to yours!!

Amazon.COM Sucks
I have heard all the rave about how wonderful Amazon.com is, and how they are so cheap, and that you could find hard to find items there. Well my hubby LOVES the movie, how the Grinch stole Christmas. So, me being the wife I am, I have tried and tried to find it for a stocking stuffer for him. I finally gave in and went to Amazon.COM to order it. Wanna know what I got. The cat in the hat, and the case was broken, so the DVD was scratched all to crap. Now I did not order the cat in the hat. I ordered how the Grinch stole Christmas, but that's not what I got. Know something else?? Yesterday I was listening to the Channon Christian/Christopher Newsom Murder Trial, and one of the murderers friends was on the stand. She said that all of them, Herself, Cobbins, G, they all had worked for Amazon.com. To me, someone that would employ scum like that, they do not deserve my business, and had I known that those trash bags had worked there when I placed my order, I would not have ordered anything from them, so believe what you want, but I say they SUCK!!

Tis the season for giving
Hey there guys, I just wanted to remind everyone that while you all are out and about, buy all those great deals, that Wal-Mart has their Angel trees up. Guys this goes to the abused and Neglected Children of East Tennessee, or of whatever state you live in, I have worked for Wal-Mart, I know the gifts go to the kids! I am also a foster parent, and my entire family does fostering. Let me tell you, It really makes the season real for the little kids when they get a gift gave to them from "Santa", and guys, those "Santa" gifts, are the ones from you and I. I got two yesterday and dropped them off at the service desk for a couple small kids. One from me, and one from my husband. It warmed my heart to imagine the smile on that little ones face when they get their gift that morning, and see its what they asked Santa for. Threw our giving hearts, we can make life just a little bit easier for the needy, abused and neglected children. So my point is, get on out there and do whats right, like I said in the heading, "Tis the season for giving!!"

Have you all tried Aquafresh® iso-active??
I had the opportunity to test out this new toothpaste courtesy of SHESPEAKS, and let me just say this...WOW, talk about clean feeling. Okay so I admit it, I am a little bit, okay alot OCD about my teeth, like I brush them sometimes 5-6 times a day OCD okay. This is the most cleaning toothpaste I have ever used, and I have tried ALOT of toothpastes! Its a foaming toothpaste, sorta like a can of shave gel, but for your teeth, and when you put the toothbrush inside your mouth, BOOM, all this foam overtakes your mouth, and you can feel it cleaning and scrubbing and disinfection your mouth! I love it, and let me just say, if this stuff goes on sale at Wags or CVS anytime soon, I am gonna clear the shelves!! Be prepared people, I will fight for it, lol! Great product, if you guys get a chance, try it!

KNOXVILLE, This is the season for giving!
Hey all the Locals here that read my blog. I have a HUGE favor to ask, and I need you all to pass the word to everyone you know in the area as well. One of my dear friends runs a mission in Knoxville off Rutledge Pike, and they are in desperate need of donations.. Anything, food, HBA items, Clothing, Toys, whatever you can spare... maybe even a few dollars if you have that to spare. They need things to be able to help the needy. They help people in need pay their utility bills, they help with food, clothing, they are just there to help.. Period. So I know all you couponers out there have a great stock pile, and probably got alot of toys or clothing that you want to get rid of before the new rolls in this holiday.. well nows the time. James has a facebook page, so you can go HERE to leave him a comment and ask about the mission. You can also go HERE and see the missions facebook page, Or if you want, I can come get the stuff and deliver it to him. Guys, this is what its all about, and I have been on the receiving end of the generosity of others, and it is truly appreciated when you need something and you can go to a mission and they help you so lovingly. Please guys, pass the word, Jennifer if you read this, please blog about it on your blog.. these guys really need help!!
Kroger Rocks
I had forgotten how much I LOVED Kroger until yesterday. It was their mega event, so we went in to get a good load of groceries, since I had depleted most of my stock pile assisting another family in need. Boy did I make out like a bandit... and many many people were amazed. I gave them all the CouponMommie.com blog site to go to, cause she keeps up with her stuff alot more than me, but I was so proud.... I got 450.and some change worth of grocery's for 207.00. That's taxes and all. I got 25 pds of butter for free plus made 12.50 on them... That's right, I had a bunch of I cant believe its not butter sticks coupons for 1.50 off, and its on sale for .99 so that was a profit of .51 each... They actually paid me to take it. Bryan is going back this evening to try and get some more of that, cause we cleared the shelves... after I asked everyone else in there around me if they wanted some, and gave them coupons to get it free... so I wasn't being too bad by clearing it! Oh, and if you can not find the carnation milk at your Kroger's, Wal-Mart will price match it! And Wal-mart's in our area has turkeys on sale right now for .40 a pound, limit of 2. I got me two yesterday, and going back today for 2 more, lol. Happy Couponing guys!!

I need help
Okay guys, I have gotten off the couponing bandwagon... and I need a boost to get back on. I had just went out and spent over 60 dollars getting this nifty binder put together... you know the zipper one with the baseball card holders, and the dividers for the categories.... yeah lets just say that cost a LOT of money... and then I got really depressed, was not on the right meds, and just stopped doing it... in my mind state I thought it was a waste of time..So I started getting all my HBA stuff at Teresas (which I plan on continuing unless I can get it free with the coupons) and I have two gigantic freezers filled to the gills with meat... I mean seriously, my hubby even says okay thats enough for now... (they are filled like that cause I get the meat REALLY cheap, like 30 dollars for a 275 dollar load of meat.... yeah, see thats why I do it). I need to get back to couponing though for the "other" stuff... the stuff I didnt think I would miss, but now that I am running out of it, I miss getting them for almost free... you know like the A-1 sauce to go with all those free steaks I scored, and the mustard that hubby eats on EVERYTHING including salads, and the salad dressing that I eat on everything... and the endless supply of snacks like rice cakes and chex mix, and all the other wonderful food scores you get with coupons. I have to start back, and I have to do it tomorrow... Period, no excuses, no fussing about it, it HAS to be done... so come on guys, can ya give me a LITTLE bloggy love here... I mean NOONE ever even says Hi anymore??? Whats up with that... arent you all suppose to encourage me so I go out and find the deals for you, lol.... Okay, enough of that stuff... bye for now.

Whats for dinner
I am trying really hard to get back into the whole blogging thing, cause it really is nice to have an outlet to the world. Since I do not work, its my socialization. Long story short, I am going to try to start posting a whats for dinner here post every day... along with recipes if one is needed for the meal we eat. I am a down to earth southern lady born and bread, and I cook good old fashion stick to your ribs, and make your ass spread kinds of meals... the ones that makes ya unbutton your britches for a few after your done, lol.
Tonight's menu is:
Homemade Pinto Beans
Homemade Corn Bread
Fried Tators
Salmon Patties
Recipe for Corn bread
My dear father taught me how to make corn bread at an early age, and I have been told by many that it doesn't get much better than mine so here ya go..hope you like it as much as my family does.
Your gonna want to use
about 2 1/2 to 3 cups of corn meal MIX (must say Mix on the bag okay)
about 1 Cup of Self Rising Flour (if you only got plain flour just put a smidgen of baking powder in it)
1-2 eggs, (if they are large or jumbo then just use one, if not use two)
enough buttermilk to get a creamy consistency (you want it to be a little runny, not like biscuit dough, you want this to be a little soupy
Preheat oven to 400-425
Get an Iron skillet and put you about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of shortening in it, and the put in on the stove eye and allow it to melt. Now your going to pour that batter in on top of your shortening (make sure you have enough shortening in there to cover the bottom of the pain, if not... then add some more okay) and when you start seeing bubbles come to the top you are going to remove it from the stove eye and put it in the oven. Let it bake until it is good and brown and you can put a toothpick in it and it comes out clean, just like with a cake...about 15 minutes or so.
The top is gonna be good and crunchy cause you allowed it to fry on top of the stove before you put it in the oven.
Hope you enjoy!!

New bloggy name
Hey there guys, not sure if anyone ever even reads my blog but, if you do you all probably remember that I am a foster mom. Well let me just start out by saying that since the whole first foster son terror began and ended, I lost my desire to be a couponing queen, lol... I still shop frugally, but since I live where I do, its easier for me to do so with the stores around here, and get the same great deals that all the couponing guys get, just without all the hassle of clipping.
Okay so a little bit of an update on our life here. Here goes. We are no longer foster parenting at this current time. The one and only devil of a child I had in my home has made me decide to not do it again ever...or at least not for a very long time. The child has caused me to have anxiety attacks from all the stress I went threw when he was in my home, and the thoughts of another one scares the life out of me.
Bryan and I are still happily together, and for the most part have been able to recover from the 4 months of hell we endured before we finally MADE the agency remove this child from my home. It was ridiculous really, they have a right fighting boss lady over there that is to young to have the job of being over that many children, that loves being a "boss" and is insistent on fighting for all costs of being right, and she was giving me HELL on removing the child from our home. It came to the point of me having to tell them either move him or we will have the police do it... then was told by the agency, well if he isn't hitting you, I don't see the problem... the little shit ATE my Nintendo, my dogs toys, his own game system, and packs of pencils like they were taffy... HELLO this is NOT what we signed up for. So long story short, we no longer have him, or any child in my home... although I want to be a mother really bad, its hard being put down and mistreated by a child that you have opened your home and heart up to, so I do not believe I am the person for that particular job, no thanks.
I had to go to the ER the day before yesterday. I just knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was having a heart attack, just knew it.
Turns out I was wrong, I am having Anxiety Attacks, and heart palpitations? from the Anxiety/Panic attacks. Long story short they put me on meds that do not go well with me.. I can not usually function with anything stronger than a Advil in my system, so these pills they put me on, lets just say poor ole Bryan is having a hard time handling me when I take them. He says I cry once they get in my system, and that the other night I beat him up, lol.
I just wanted to let everyone that follows me know that as much as I enjoy getting the great deals, its just not my cup of tea to clip anymore, so that's not what this blog is going to be about anymore... hope that's okay with you all!

So sad
I just read on one of the blogs that I have followed since I first started blogging that she lost her grandmother. Even though we might not ever meet these people across the web, you kinda begin to grow close to them by reading their blogs, their thoughts and words and stuff, and I sware it just breaks my heart to know that in this case she is so far away from where I live, if she were closer at least I could offer her family a home cooked meal, offer to babysit so she could have a little time to grieve alone, something... but that is what sucks when you make a friend online that lives a long way away, there isnt anything you can do from across the computer except say I am sorry... so if you happen to read this, know your in my heart and prayers, and I wish I could do something... but I know there is nothing I can say or do to make it any better.

Good deal here in my little town
Well, I have just about stopped using coupons, trying to get back into it, but its a tiring hobby that I just cant seem to pick back up... what I have not gave up on is our resale stores and our local grocery stores... Just this morning I went out to the local little mom and pop grocery store to pick up some soda for my hubby, and decided to check the meat counter. Well I saw the "managers special" area was loaded up, and I can usually get this stuff for dirt cheap. So, I went and asked... and was told 30 bucks for it all, and asked.... is that to much?? I say absolutely not, box it up for me if you do not mind, I will take it. When I get it home I calculate what this would have been had I paid full price as what was marked on the packages... I got 275.00 worth of meat for 30.00. Now tell me that isn't a great deal. And they freeze it all before the expiration date, so all the meat is always really good. I also go to our local little resale store that buys truck loads of "damaged" merchandise from the big stores like Rite Aid and WalMart and such. I got 16 bottles of the huge bottles of Soft Soap body wash the other day for 16 dollars. Yep, 16 dollars, and you wanna know what was "damaged" about it. The box it was boxed up and shipped in from the factory was dented. That's all that was wrong with it. The bottles of body wash was perfectly fine. We also got a brand new Wahl's brand clipper set at one of these stores for 2 bucks. This particular set goes for 145 at sally's. Not a thing wrong with it, all the attachments are with it and everything. SO even though I might not be getting things the way everyone else is with their coupons, I am still getting it as cheap once you figure in the price for the papers to get the coupons!!

Blogger Burnout
I swear to my goodness, I am just totally sick of all the get rich blogging stuff I am seeing everywhere. When I started this little ole blog, it was to help people learn how to use coupons, nothing more, nothing less.... then I decided to try and make money off the site, which ended up being more trouble and more time consuming than my family and life would allow... I just wonder, how in the world do all these people have hours and hours to set at the computer and send out all of their "advertising" skits to get people to click, go to, and try to get free the stuff they advertise, only to end up finding out its all a gimmick... never receive anything in the mail from any of the things (or at least I have not). This is why I hardly ever blog anymore, and rarely come to blogger anymore, it sickens me at all the gimmicks going on... when you see one ad, you see a dozen of them from everyone you follow trying to get their penny from the ad too... shesh, enough already for me!!

Wal-Mart finds today
I found Bryer Ice Cream on sale today at our local Wal-mart for 2.25 a half gallon. -.75 MQ that made for some really cheap (or cheap in my book at least) Ice cream.
They also had Bar- S Brand hotdogs for .88 - 1.00 for 2 MQ = .76 for two packs of hotdogs.
Also got some Fleshmans Yeast 3 packs for 1.13 - .40 MQ made it .73 cents for a 3 pack.
Just wanted to share those things with you all because I thought it was a good buy for WalMart.
Also, I seen two other ladies in the same line as me shopping with coupons, One of the ladies mentioned she had a blog she read that told her where to go to print coupons, I just wondered if it was one of the local East Tennessee gals!!

Need some help here please
Hey guys, as you all probably know, I am still fairly new at the whole couponing thing. Heres the deal, over the past two weeks I have been trying to collect some ECB's to try the CVS thing. Now I have (1) 4.99 and (3) 3.99 ECB's and am wondering about what I should do this week to try and use them. I want to use them for things that will give me more ECB's and not cost alot. I really want to get to be able to do it, like Kristie at Insomniac Theater does, but not sure if I can get THAT good....

I really Love my Wags!!
I just got home from Wags, (had to take a script in to be filled for my son so decided to shop a little while I waited) and I had one of the best experiences to date.
I started out buying one of the Edge shave gels on sale for 2.99 which printed me a RR for 3.00, I then used that to purchase the fiber choice tabs and a bag of chex mix ( on sale for .99 and 2.59 for the fiber tabs) and then got back 2.50 RR for them. So, all in all I got 10 shave gels, 10 fiber choice tabs, and 10 bags of chex mix for just over 18.00 OOP and came back home with a 2.50 RR for next week, and the total of all that stuff before RR savings was like 66.00 so I think I had a good day... I am happy at least, so thats all that matters!

Mindi over at Moms needs to Know
Mindi over at Moms needs to Know has a totally awesome giveaway going on right now. Its super easy to enter, and the price is a giftbasket for Romano's Macaroni Grill Meals. Mindi says on her website this about the baskets" It includes 3 coupons for a free box so I can try the other flavors: Garlic & Herb Chicken Penne, Chicken Alfredo with Linguine and Chicken Marsala with Linguine. Also included in the gift basket was a pasta spoon, a cheese grater and a nice-sized colander. " So sounds to me like its a good gift. Anyway, just go on to her site and get registered for it. Info on stuff happening at WAGS in the future
I was in my Fav Wags yesterday, and my FAV cashier Ashley told me that Wags was going to be doing away with RR's and with Rebates, and will be coming out with a card, that when you are suppose to get a RR on an item, or a Rebate, it will automatically load onto the card.. so less paperwork to keep up with. Me personally, I love this idea. What about the rest of you? What do you all think about this? Leave me some comments and let me know.

My Husband's Granny Needs Prayers
*UPDATE*
Granny is still in the hospital, but the doctors are saying what is wrong with her, she could die from. She is conscious, but we are still worried about if it gets worse. We love her so much and she is like the granny I never had, so to know she is suffering is killing us. Just please, continue to pray for her recovery.
I just got some really bad news a few minutes ago. My husbands grandmother has had a stroke, and is in the hospital in Oklahoma. We are stuck in Tennessee and have no funds available to get out there to her. We do not know if she is going to be okay or not, but she helped raise my husband and he is having a really hard time with all this. Please pray that she will be okay. We love her so much, just can not stand the thoughts of having to let her go. Please pray for her, and for my husband.

I quit smoking
I need prayers to have the strength to stop this foolish habit. I have very bad asthma, and my smoking habit is just making it worse. Last night as I set in the living room watching standup on the TV with my dear Hubby, I realized just what a hard time breathing I was having, and how foolish it was of me to continue smoking my cancer sticks just trying to kill myself a little sooner than what God intended. So this morning, I put them down. Now I have only been awake for an hour, and so far no smoke, but I am sure craving them, so please if you have a second, just ask God to help me kick this awful habit before it kills me.

4. Kristie at Insomniac Scrapbook Theater

Great deal on Meat sale
I am just tickled pink about my recent purchase. I went to the local little mom and pop store here in town a few minutes ago, and they had a freezer of meat for 25.00. When I got home, I added it all up at retail cost, and it would have been 80.00 for all of it. And thats not counting the 5-10 packages of pork that I had gave to my mother, because we do not eat pork here. If I had counted that in, it would have been well over 100 bucks worth of meat for 25 dollars. I am so happy. So how do you all save money when shopping? Will you buy that package of day old meat thats on clearance, and take it home and freeze it? We always buy our meat this way, just curious of how others do this sort of thing.

Problems with RR at Wags
Is anyone else having problems getting your RR's when you use a coupon for the item you purchased at wags? Everytime we go in there and try to get the RR's and use a MQ, it will not print. I was told by the manager in Oneida that they had changed the policy and that it would not print if you used a Q, but I here alot of others saying they get their RR's no problem, just wondering if anyone else has any info on this.

Well after whinning about it all day, my dear hubby decided to drive my butt to Oak Ridge to get the sales... and buddy did we get a good one.

Some tips for Wags Couponing
Okay, so I have been reading alot of other peoples blogs and see questions people ask. They are all the time asking, well but my coupon is for 2.00 off and the item is 1.98 and it beeps. Okay so heres the thing, if you want to use that coupon, get a pack of gum or something and throw it up... the coupon will work then. See they can not take off on the tax at wags, has to come off the before tax total, so if the before tax is a little bit more than the coupons total, then they will work. Example of this
I bought 10 packages of Nabisco crackers the other day at ways they were on sale 1.99/2
I had 5- 2.00 coupons
then I bought one tube of Colgate total toothpaste on sale for 3.49
- wags easy saver booklet coupon for 2.99
that would have made my toothpaste .50 cents
but I had 1.50 off coupon so
I had 1.00 overage
I ended up using 4 of the 2.00 coupons for the crackers, the toothpaste coupon, and still had to throw a candy bar up to make up enough to cover the coupon money. And then I just had to pay tax. So see, as long as you have enough actual "cost" without tax, the coupons should work. Hope this helps!

I love my Wags Cashier
Okay so I went into Wags yesterday with my mom to get our free ritz crackers and I had a coupon to get a free tube of toothpaste. So we went immediatly to the crackers isle, only to see there were only 3 lonely boxes left on the shelf. So I hollered over to my dear cashier Ashley and asked her if she had any more in the box (as we were getting 14 total, 10 for me, four for mom) and she went and checked. She came back and said no, but we could get any of the nabisco items that were on sale for the 1.99/2 and she would still use the coupon!!! I am gleaming at this point, cause she just rocks, love her to death. So we end up with 4 boxes of chip ahoy cookies, 3 ritz crackers, and 7 boxes of regular Krispy saltine crackers, and we used the wheatthin/ritz crackers to pay for them, and I even got a coupon back cause she did not need it to pay for the other box, because I had a 1.50 off MQ for the toothpaste, and wags easysaver had a 2.99 off, so it was only suppose to be .49 cents, so I had that extra 1.01 that went onto the rest of my transaction... So Ashley thank you.. oh and the hateful checker that I had reported came over where we were all at and was super nice, so apparently she was trying to appologize. Did not work, we always do and always will check out threw Ashley, I will leave and go back another day if she is not working!!

Walgreens
I went to my wonderful Wags yesterday, was kinda scared to go back after all the trouble I had the last time I went in with the fusion gamer razors, but thats a whole other story.. Yesterday our fav wags employee Ashley was working (love ya girl, you just rock, and I will continue emailing wags about how awesome you are!!) so we went and got our 5 reynolds aluminum foil, and our ten candy bars, and a diet mt dew for me, and we were off running around the store, trying to find out where Ashley was working so we could go threw her line. We finally found her over at the cosmetics counter, so we went back there, and waited for her to check us out. We got all the items for 2.16 or something like that, and was tickled pink. She told me she was going to have to learn how to do the couponing, and told me about another girl in the area that does it besides me and my friend Crystal, and when I got home last night I realized that it was a sister to a girl that me and Crystal went to school with, lol... small town here. Anyhow I gave Ashley my blog address, and hopefully she can go threw my blog and pick up on the whole process a little, cause with someone as nice as her, she deserves to be getting this stuff for free too!! Again, hats off to our awesome Wags Checker girl Ashley, she rocks!! If you are from Scott County and go in there, ask for the manager and let him know how awesome she is, I guarantee that if she is your checker, you will be treated with respect, and have the best couponing experience ever!
Eating on a budget
You know, I read all this stuff all the time about how to cook cheap, and what to cook to keep on a budget... Well, maybe my family is just plain jane and likes the old fashioned stuff, so I find it easier than most I guess.. don't really know, but for me, 5-10 bucks for one meal for the family is alot of money..Heres the way I do it, may not be the healthiest, which might be why it costs others to stress over the budget, but we make do.
I buy my meat in bulk at the local grocery store that is day old. We have ate it for years now, has not killed us yet, so I do not expect it to. I usually get a whole freezer load of meat for 30-50 bucks. That includes hamburger, steaks (filet minons and ribeyes and new your strips) roasts, pork chops, ground sirloin, and cubed steak. I buy 4-5 packs of chicken leg and thigh pieces, around here you can get a big package of this for 2-3 bucks, and can easily use one package for 2-3 meals. And that takes care of our meats.
Secondly, I can and freeze my vegetables. We do work in the summer, all summer long, and then I have fresh, homegrown veggies to do me all winter long. I canned 120 quarts of green beans this past summer, and we have nearly went threw them this year. (hubby loves em)
I buy flour, corn meal, cans of cream, and big ole bags of tators, and I cook from scratch. We eat pinto beans and corn bread, gravy and biscuits, roast with potatoes and carrots, we have good home cooked meals, and it doesnt cost me 5-10 bucks a meal to do that. Now thats just me, my hubby likes the homemade stuff, and me being the somewhat skilled cook, we eat well, and the food tastes good, and it does not have all the additives and fillers that the stuff out of the store has in it.
I myself will take homemade anyday over store bought. I make all our desserts, breads, beans, noodles, gravy's, all from scratch, and we seem to enjoy it more. Heck I can get 5-10 pans of biscuits out of a five pound bag of flour, a little shortening, a can of cream, and some time and effort, and that would feed us many many meals of biscuits and gravy, and it would only cost me about 4 dollars to do it. Know why? Cause I use the cheapest things I can find to bake with, and make it all from scratch... get alot more, alot better food, for alot cheaper. Me and my husband could eat well off 100 a month before I started couponing, so now that I use coupons, we literally are eating for pennies a meal!!
Just thought I would share that, if anyone is interested in learning how to get back to the basics and cook stuff from scratch, let me know.. I can help you learn. I did not always know how to do it myself, but with the desire to learn, I got very good at it, and now at family dinners, or church dinners, I hear everyone asking, hey did Wendy make that, I want some if she made it... kinda makes ya feel good!

Homemade Sugar free Pies
Well, I am very happy at the moment, I got a wild hair to try to make my husbands fav pies with splenda since he is a diabetic. Its been nearly 2 years since he has had a slither of the pies I make because he was diagnosed about 2 years ago, and love his big ole heart, he looks so sad when holidays come around, and everyone else is getting to enjoy his wife's desserts, and he isn't. Now mind you, I have always made him the sugar free nanar puddin, and sugar free pumpkin rolls and such, but just was not confident enough with the whole splenda thing to waste nearly half a bag trying the pies. Well today I got bored, and hubby is working late, and since we moved he has really been pulling his share at the house... all that combined made me decide to try and make him his pies with the splenda I had. Now mind you I was scared to death that I was going to flub it up, and waste a 6 dollar bag of splenda, but I done it anyway, and they turned out better than the ones with real sugar do. Made his a Chocolate cream pie and a coconut cream pie, and well I always make my crusts from scratch, so it all is fresh and pipin hot right now. Just took the last batch of homemade filling off the stove and poured it over into the pie shells. I can not wait for him to get home and see them, hes a big ole guy, and food makes him happy, and I just know having some of his fav childhood desserts are going to make his bad day at work go away and give him some happiness. Just wanted to share my thoughts with you guys, I am very happy right now.. If you want to see my recipes for these, then head on over to my recipe blog and check it out!! I will post pics of the pies after he gets home tonight, gonna have him bring home some cool whip for the topping.

We finally got an Exercise Program going here
Well, yesterday after Sunday School Bryan and I decided we were going to go threw with all the talk about getting out and walking for exercise. We have talked about it all winter but it was warm enough yesterday to do it. I would say we walked close to half a mile or so. Not really good, but hey its a start. It was nice to, just the two of us out in the open air walking and sharing time together. I really enjoyed it. It helped my leg muscles too. As many of you know, my knee is damaged bad, and I have a terrible time trying to walk most of the time because of it, but it was not hurting yesterday, so we took advantage of it, and went as far as my legs would allow. We took our time, because my asthma was trying to kick in, but we went ahead and did not stop. We have planned on walking every evening when Bryan gets home from work (weather permiting) and to increase our distance a little more each day. I felt so good after we got back home, I could feel that my leg muscles had gotten a work out, and thats what I needed. Keep us in your prayers that we can continue this and hopefully get on track to loosing weight and getting back healthy!

Today is Nickle -N-Dimes half a birthday
Yep, thats what I said.. she has only been blogging for 6 short months. I know, it inspires me too!!! Just to think, she started all this six sort months ago. Guys that puts a whole new perspective on this, if we do as she has done, and work hard at this, we can make a difference in peoples lives just like she has. She takes alot of time on her blogs, finding us great deals, and telling everyone out there in the world how to do this. I for one am very thankful I found her, everyone go on over to her site HERE and show her some appreciation for all the hard work she does for all of us out there. THANKS BECKY!!!
Church Dinner Ideas
So this Sunday my church is having a dinner for the pastor cause its his birthday. Well I love to cook, and bake, and love to do it all from scratch, but I need to take something that reheats well, because we always have sunday school and church before the dinner. Well I was thinking about making my new fav recipe of homemade meatballs with rice and mushroom gravy.. but I need to take something else with it. Now everyone always makes the usual side, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, so I am wanting to make something that others do not usually think of, and that will of course reheat well. I was thinking about doing some sort of casserole side dish, but then I thought, sheesh, bout the only ones I know how to make are hashbrown casserole and sweet potato casserole, neither would go well with the meatballs. So my question to you guys is... what else could I take? Do you have an awesome recipe that you would not mind giving me for a totally awesome tasty side dish? I just want his meal for his birthday to be special, as we have one of the best, most kind hearted preachers a church could ask for. So hows bout it? Can ya give me some ideas here? Please

Homemade Chicken and Dumplins
Casey over at Save a dime asked me to post my chicken and dumplin recipe, so here ya go.
Start out cooking either a whole fryer hen or a big package of leg and thigh quarters
after chicken is boiled, take out, remove meat from the bone and place back into your stock.
Add about 5-6 chicken bouillon cubes and a couple cans of broth, unless you have a really good hen that made a really yellow broth when you boiled it, if that happened, you will not need the broth, just the cubes. Put one stick of margarine in broth, salt and pepper to taste.
Now you are going to want to get you a few cups of that broth out for the dumplins.
Put about 4-5 cups of plain flour in a big bowl, about one serving spoon full of shortening, and then salt and pepper. Now mix this up with the broth until you get a smooth biscuit like dough.
Next you need to flour a counter top, and pour that dough mixture onto it. work the dough really well, until its a little more firm than biscuits, but not as firm as a pie crust would be.
Flour a rolling pin and roll that dough out as thin as you can get it, without putting holes in it. Take a pizza cutter or knife, and cut the dough up in small strips. About a inch wide and a inch thick.. give or take a little bit.
Make sure your broth is at a rolling boil, and then begin to drop the dumplins into the broth. Drop a few, stir, drop a few stir. Make sure to stir from the bottom as they will stick. After you get all the dumplins dropped, just cook a few minutes, making sure to keep them stirred good so they don't stick to the bottom of the pot, and then remove from heat, and they are done. Simple simple meal, and delicious.
Small hint to keep the mess down with the dough. I flour my cutting board, take a small amount of the dough and roll it out on it, make the dumplins out of that, and then repeat this until I have used all the dough up, that way you do not end up with a floury doughy mess all over your counter top and flour. Hope you enjoy!!

Cooking Dinner's the ole Fashioned way
Well, tonight for supper I had planned on making deer meat, mashed potato's homemade biscuits, and homemade gravy. I was getting ready to go peel my tators, and got to thinking.. Alot of women in todays generation has not ever learned how to cook from scratch.
I picked it up at an early age, cause my momma is a wonderful cook, and makes everything from scratch. Then when I married my husband, his granny, whom I have adopted as my own granny now, also is a wonderful cook, and a excellent baker.. She has taught me how to make all my desserts from scratch, everything from all sorts of homemade pies, all the way up to cakes from scratch. I can make anything you ask for, from scratch thanks to these two wonderful ladies in my life. Thats a trait I realize alot of women did not get growing up. So, why am I telling you all this?? Well, I want to pass along my cooking skills to anyone that would like to learn. Send me an email, and I can send you fail proof recipes for what ever it is you want to make.
My family rave and beg for my homemade dishes, because other than my mother, noone else in my family makes anything homemade, its all from scratch, and my momma even begs me for my chicken and dumplins, and my homemade desserts.
So I am off to my new kitchen to make my first pan of homemade biscuits and get the potato's peeled for tonights dinner.. If you decide you want to know more about homemade meals, meals that stick to your ribs and don't break the bank, shoot me an email at wendygambler@hotmail.com and I will be more than happy to assist you with your recipes for good wholesome food for might near nothing.
